Many small businesses are using the totally wrong marketing strategy and tactics.
Could you be one of them?
Well, if you’re not getting the sales or attracting as many new clients as you need, it’s possible.
Why does this happen?
Where did you get your marketing strategy from?
There are lots of reasons people find themselves using the totally wrong approach with their marketing. Here’s one I see every day, which is extremely common.
Some popular marketing sites are written by people (and largely for people), who make their money selling general marketing related ebooks, affiliate products, webinars etc. You know the sites I mean – They talk about ‘building your list’, rather than ‘building your community’ and relentlessly cross promote each others ‘information products’.
Here’s the thing: Because they want to sell their stuff to as many people as possible, some of those sites offer a mantra that ‘one size fits all’ – that a doctor or lawyer should use the same marketing strategy and tactics as someone selling $30 get rich quick ebooks.
That is factually incorrect, as you may have already discovered!
Be relevant and specific
People need to feel a VERY different level of trust and connection before they spend thousands hiring a; financial expert, lawyer, web designer, coach, contractor, therapist, etc, than they do when spending peanuts on an ebook. They expect a different experience when they visit their website and a different message too.
Your marketing needs to be specific. If you’re copying the one size fits all approach, it’s losing you business if you’re lucky. If you’re unlucky, it’s damaging your reputation too. You can really feel the pinch, using pinch pages to sell professional services!
If your marketing isn’t working, ask yourself where you got your strategy and tactics from. Then, replace what you are doing, with a clear, structured strategy built around your business and what you want to achieve.
