What’s your biggest marketing challenge?

This blog contains thousands of free marketing ideas and marketing answers, to help you achieve your best sales results ever.  With new marketing material being added all the time, I hope to provide you with an increasingly valuable marketing resource.  However, in order for me to make this blog as valuable as possible to you, I need to know which marketing challenges or problems are most important to you.

For example; lead generation, email marketing, social media marketing, mail shots (direct mail), networking, retail marketing, referrals, joint ventures, etc.

So, I would really appreciate it, if you would take a moment to let me know what areas of marketing you would like me to focus on, by leaving a comment below.

Your feedback will directly influence what I write about and help me to focus on the areas of marketing, which are most relevant to you and your business.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would love to learn more about joint ventures! I love the concept and would to know the best way to go about them as a creator and also as an affiliate.

Hi Jim. Hmm – I would say lead generation, referrals and joint ventures out of that list from a start-up perspective. Also, perhaps message shaping i.e. what message do you want about your company out there (hope the lingo is correct!).

    Hi Jim,

I’d like to know more about upselling to existing clients. How to sell additional services to them without seeming to be pushy. Thanks X

Thanks for what you do and for all that you give us.

For me, I’d say the biggest challenge is reaching new clients (lead generation). Specifically, reaching new clients that are a good fit for our business. Finding them is quite difficult in a crowded industry like hosting.

For me most interesting in social media marketing and networking. I think that how you build a community is very interesting and important and you showed that you know how to do it ;) .

    Thanks for asking Jim!

My biggest marketing challenge at the moment is getting a handle on the data of ‘recency, frequency, spend’ of my clinical clients (I’m a nutritionist-naturopath). Is there a simple way of recording this short of creating an entirely new database?

The hardest thing for me is the time. I spend my whole day marketing, selling, fulfilling, learning or leading — they all compete for the same precious 24.5 hours of productivity a day. Our affiliates/VARs are generating so much business for us that every success brings even more business.

I delegate what I can reasonably teach, and hire as quickly as can be done without diluting the gene pool of the company with a newbie explosion.

That’s all — nothing clever needed, no special lead gen tricks or segmentation strategies — just trying to get it all done, keep it moving, and deliver on the promises we make.

I have a strong interest in lead generation although right now that is working well but I had a conversation about a commercial product that reaches out to your clients. I told the client I was working with I don’t like it… if I sent cards to clients to say I cared, I want it to be me sending them, not a service. What do you think about client follow-up using services? My client’s contention was that he was too busy to write a thank you personally…

    Hey Jim,

Great blog thanks for that. As far as challenges go, I’d have to say, aligning sales/marketing communications and implementing CRM on a tight budget.

B2B lead generation please, especially in a crowded market. I know about networking but what about cold calling, I hate it when it happens to me. What is the alternative to get to business customers who don’t network? Love your emails. When I can afford to employ a marketing expert I know where to come!

    Awesome blog.

My biggest challenge has been leveraging social networking sites to their maximum.

Another challenge is developing a product portfolio. I would love to discover a system for discovering new products and evaluating new product opportunities.

As an established business, what I need to know is reaching the not so low hanging fruit, how to plan our marketing activities for premium clients.

I echo the sentiment above, thanks for giving so much Jim. I know it pays off for you, perhaps some more posts of the things you have tried and what has worked, in different niches? case studies?
